1. Why register my Designer / Hybrid dog or pup with the International Designer Canine Registry?
IDCR registration offers breeders of designer dogs the opportunity to record their dogs historically important ancestry and share that valued history and information with the new owners of their designer puppies.  Registration with the IDCR shows the pride breeders take in their breeding program and adds validity to the statement that designer dogs are more than just a "mixed breed" breeding but rather that a great deal of thought, time, care and expense is often put into a breeding program focusing on designer breeds.

The International Designer Canine Registry was founded
with a trust in truth, belief in integrity with a strong moral and ethical stance and is devoted to upholding a great standard of professionalism within the organization.  Here at the IDCR our well-trained experienced staff is dedicated to providing you with superior customer service in a professional friendly manner with an emphasis on accuracy, promptness, reliability and quality service.  Our accuracy and promptness are two areas in which the IDCR registration staff take great pride and just one of the important features that we believe set the International Designer Canine Registry apart from other registration companies/kennel clubs.   Back to top.

2. Will registering my dogs with the International Designer Canine Association affect their current registration with another registration company?
The simple answer is "No" you may register your dogs with more than one company and it will not affect its current registration status.  Many breeders / dog owners choose to register the dogs / puppies with several registration companies such as the IDCR or the UCA.  Breeders often feel that offering dual registration of their litters or  pups adds a bit of value to their pups as well as gives their customers a choice when registering their new puppy.    Back to top.

3. How do I register my Purebred / Designer / Hybrid dog or pup with the International Designer Canine Registry?
Purebred / Designer / Hybrid dogs
which are currently registered with another registering company and/or kennel club may be dual registered with the International Designer Canine Registry by completing and signing a IDCR Single Registration Application, making a copy of the other registration company or kennel club’s registration papers and any pedigree information of the dog to be registered and sending them to the International Designer Canine Registry’s Registration Office with the proper registration fee.

Designer / Hybrid dogs which have no previous registration history may apply for IDCR registration and can be issued certified IDCR registration papers by completing and signing a IDCR Single Registration Application and including pedigree information (if available).   Send all of the above items to the International Designer Canine Registry's Registration Office with the proper registration fee.

The Standard Registration fee for a single dog is currently $20.00 per dog, however the IDCR is currently offering FREE permanent registration on all Designer / Hybrid dogs up till January 1, 2010.  Once your submitted application has been approved for IDCR registration all of your canine's information will be entered into the IDCR registry & genetic database.  Your dog will at that time be assigned it's own unique IDCR registration number that identifies your canine and it's Designer breed as well as you as the owner on record.  All approved applicants will be mailed an official INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER CANINE REGISTRY registration certificate with all of the newly registered canine's information and the registered owners information.  Your IDCR registration certificate will be mailed to you upon the completion of the registration of your dog and is suitable for framing.  Back to top.

Standard processing time for Single Registrations, Litter Registrations and Transfer of Ownerships with pedigrees is approximately 2-3 weeks.  This does not include mailing time (5 days), weekends or Holidays.

5. I lost my IDCR Registration Certificate can I get a duplicate certificate by phone or email? Yorkipoo

The IDCR does offer an application for which you can apply for a duplicate IDCR registration certificate that can replace a lost certificate.  We believe that it is in our customers best interest that the IDCR does not provide this service via phone or email.  All duplicate certificates must be applied for with the IDCR Duplicate Application Form.  The duplicate application form must have original signatures, no copies will be accepted.   Back to top.

6.  Does the IDCR start bloodlines?

The
IDCR single registration application does not start bloodlines per say but rather documents and records the beginnings of reputable breeder's efforts and hard work in creating their lines.  Another use of the  IDCR single registration application is to dual register Designer / Hybrid dogs from one company to another.  It can also be used to establish registration and record historical lineage or bloodlines.  Back to top.

7.  Does my IDCR Registration Certificate ever expire?

No, as long as you have the papers they are still valid.  After 60 days of ownership without transferring the certificate into your name, there is a $10.00 late processing fee that must be paid.  Even after the 60 days your
IDCR Temporary Puppy Certificate is still valid.
Your IDCR papers are only invalid if the dog is deceased or reported stolen.  Back to top.

8.  What is a Pedigree?

A pedigree is the family tree or the genealogical history of a dog.  Many designer / hybrid dogs have exceptional pedigrees containing outstanding and often historically important dogs that make up their family tree.  A IDCR certified pedigree will show the parents, grand parents, and great grandparents, up to several generations back.  Pedigrees are invaluable to determine which breedings will produce the best offspring or results based on the genetic background of each dog and the dominate traits of their particular genealogical history.
The International Designer Canine Registry can issue certified pedigrees for 3, 4 or 5 generations of ancestry on most IDCR registered dogs of designer breeds.  A IDCR certified pedigree may be ordered at the time of registration of your designer dog or at a later date by calling the IDCR Registration Office or following this link.
